Centimeters to Inches Converter

inches = centimeters ÷ 2.54

Example: 30 cm × 0.393701 = 11.81 in. To convert back, multiply in by 2.54.

Centimeters-to-inches is what you reach for when a metric measurement has to fit an American product: a 60 cm suitcase against a 22-inch carry-on limit, a European waist label into US jeans sizes, or a 30 cm ruler against a 12-inch one. Photographers converting print sizes also use it daily.

Jeans sizes are the classic ambush: European labels give waist in centimeters (say, 76 cm) while American brands use inches (30″), and the numbers are close enough to be confusing but different enough to matter. A4 paper is 21 × 29.7 cm — no clean inch equivalent, which is exactly why US Letter (8.5 × 11″, or 21.6 × 27.9 cm) jams in printers configured for the other standard.

Photography runs on centimeters and millimeters in the rest of the world and inches in the US: print sizes like 4×6, 5×7, and 8×10 are inch-based even in metric countries, while passport photo requirements are specified in millimeters (35 × 45 mm for most of the world). If you are framing a photo, cutting a mat, or ordering prints across systems, convert every dimension explicitly — never eyeball it, because frame retailers on each side of the Atlantic sell different standard sizes.
